5Fit well and work as advertized
By LT
My TV shipped with the medium size glasses (3D3MU) and they didn't quite fit me. I could use them, but not the perfect fit. So I ordered the 3D3LU, the large 3D glasses. They fit me very well, perfect fit in fact, so no complaints. They also work as advertized, so no complaints there either. They are also VERY, VERY lightweight, compared to other 3D glasses, so 5/5 stars it is.

4Good product ..... but is it worth it ?
By E Scott Channell
There are two parts to my review: 1st my review of these glasses and how well they work; 2nd my experience / review of 3D in general.1st: 4/5 starts for this productI received these glasses (actually they are marked TY-EW3D2MA so they are the medium size variant which ships with the TV) when I purchased a Panasonic VT30 TV. They are well built and of solid construction. They are easily charged with the included USB cable. The glasses case is a convenient storage device and will keep the glasses in-place and protect them from scratches.... it too is fairly solid but it relies on a hinge which is just a sturdy plastic pair of strips which, no doubt, will eventually become stressed and break (I loathe that hinge "design"). When using the glasses they are vastly superior to the blue/red technology.... it just works. There isn't any distortion or "sweet spot" that I can see (as long as the glasses are horizontal.... if they are vertical the 3D effect vanishes.... worn upside down they appear to work as well). The effect is not impacted by viewer distance from the screen or viewing angle (left/right, top/bottom)... all angles appear to work fine. Comfort is good (but I had medium sized glasses for my big head so the size wasn't quite correct in my case). If you look around the room at a semi-brightly lit region you can see some shuttering effect of the glasses... it's subtle but easily detected. I/O: The glasses have a mini-USB connector for charging the battery. There is an ON/OFF switch with a colored indicator (red) if it is turned on. There is also an LED which shows both charging as well as blinking when the glasses are turned ON. The glasses appear to turn themselves off after a period of time not detecting the signal... I didn't test this too much but just flipping the on/off switch gets them going. I didn't see them incorrectly turning themselves off at any point, only when the TV was turned off or the glasses had been set aside for a while (in order to write this review). The ear pieces are hinged with what appears to be a solid peg-style hinge.... the top/bottom of where the hinge peg go through the main section of the glasses are sealed so the peg won't fall out after a lot of wear and tear (good!!!). The nose bridge piece is made of soft rubber-like material which slides solidly into matching slots in the main glasses section... I don't know if this would harden over time or potentially lose its ability to be affixed to the main glasses... it looks like good quality material to me though.2nd: my opinion of the technology in general I personally detect some strain when using 3D (any 3D method, not just this one) but its manageable. They've done a heck of a good job with this latest tech but, IMHO, it still isn't worth it. Even if the glasses were free I'd rather just watch the 2D show than deal with the 3D drawbacks. The 3D takes away from my enjoyment of the material, leaves me with eye strain and, heck, I had Lasik done some years ago to get *away* from glasses. I had a dated stereo system so when the AVR was on its last leg I decided to upgrade with HW which was somewhat matched technology-wise. I eventually settled on a Denon 991 AVR, Panasonic BDT310 BD-player, and a Panasonic VT30 TV. All connected with AudioQuest cables which are supposed to be fairly high-end. All firmware was updated. If you cascade HDMI (from source, through AVR, to TV) there is potential for the DCMA HDMI crud to have a hissy-fit.... this is just normal HDMI interfaces, not even getting into the 3D requirements. [I also have a PS3 and a Dish HD satallite PVR so getting it all working correctly required good cabling and thankfully they fixed bugs in the firmware (ie. a wee bit of luck)]. So, be that as it may, getting your system to work with 3D may take more than just "meeting the specs" for the interfaces and cabling. Material that I have tried: IMAX Deep Sea 3D, Avatar 3D, TRON 3D, Tangled 3D. (also 3D version of the Prince of Persia for the PS3) My conclusion - t'aint worth it. It may be worth getting the HW to give you 3D (eg. TV, BD player, etc) as that also gets you (usually) the latest tech for all of the other features that you are looking for. But for the movies themselves you are paying 50-70% markup over a non-3D BD disc and you also have to fork over ~$100 for the glasses (for each viewer). As I've got 4 kids (plus 2 adults) that's $600 [minus $100 for the glasses that came with the TV set]. TO be honest, I'd really rather that the studios concentrate on a good plot and script than have them give me a 3D-gimmick which leaves me with eye strain. If you are expecting to get your money's worth with 3D (vs. all the other avenues that you can dedicate your $$s) then IMHO this is about as good as it gets. Good solid tech and the Panasonic gear at least implements it with good quality hardware. Anyway, that's my 2-cents worth.... your mileage may vary.Panasonic VIERA TC-P65VT30 65-inch 1080p 3D Plasma HDTV, BlackDenon AVR-991 7.2-Channel Networking Multi-Source/Multi-Zone A/V Home Theater Receiver with HDMI 1.4a supporting 1080p and 3D (Black)Panasonic DMP-BDT310 Integrated-Wi-Fi 3D Blu-ray DVD PlayerAudioQuest Forest 1m (3.28 ft.) 5Theater quality 3D at home
By Patrick Hayes
These glasses are lightweight and comfortable. The 3D experience will depend on the source material, but the blu-ray 3D of IMAX (Hubble) and other movies is awesome. Easy to wear for extended periods, rechargeable, and has a neat 3D to 2D switch in case someone gets motion sick - turns their experience back to 2D while everyone else sees 3D. Brilliant.
