2nd Generation Panasonic Glasses Hit The Sweet Spot

First, I will preface this review by saying that I have only used these glasses for a total of appx. 30 minutes, and so I may modify my rating next week to 4 stars, but I highly doubt that (I plan to watch about 5 3D Blu-Rays from start to finish using my new glasses while on vacation!).A few things, the weekend before these arrived, I was at home and I went to watch Ice Age 3 3D and as I pulled out my 3D Panasonic Gen 1 glasses the first 2 of 3 pairs were dead!!!!! No 'auto off' feature, and I have no idea if I forgot to turn them off or more likely bumped the power switch while folding them up etc. and putting them into their protective boxes! Thankfully my 3rd pair still had a working battery.So, improvement #1 - when these new Gen 2 Glasses are 'on' there is a steady blinking pulse from the LED. Improvement #2 - the power is no longer a button to be pressed but a 'switch'.Next, once they arrived, since I did have one pair of the Gen 1's that still had a working battery I decided to watch appx. 20-30 minutes of Ice Age 3 3D with the old glasses first just to refresh my memory of all the things I 'disliked' about the old glasses - don't fit snug, light seeps in from the sides, none of the nose pieces fit properly, to easy to accidentally turn on when putting away or whatnot. Most especially though, they feel like they are going to fall off my face and when I lay sideways on the couch if I rest my head against a pillow it 'pushes' them off so I have to sit in awkward positions to watch my 3D content.The new glasses were a god send- they fit perfectly (I used my snowboarding helmet size and measured my head to be certain I was a size medium), they are snug without pinching or hurting anywhere. I felt like I could power them off, walk in the kitchen, get a drink, come back, power them back on and pick up where I left off!More importantly I can now lay or sit in any position I want without worry that my glasses will be falling off my face! Also, the sides no longer have those huge gaps in them!!Icing on the cake, as mentioned above - on/off 'switch', flashing LED for on/off status, AND a USB charging cable (why all of this was not done in the Gen 1 glasses I have no idea, but after spending around $3,000+ on my 3D setup it was WELL worth the extra money for me to grab a set of these glasses).I'll update my review after I spend more time with them but I couldn't figure out why there were no reviews when these have been out since October so I took a chance and ordered them and wanted to help if there were others still on the fence about getting these.Be sure to get the right size though as the nose piece is not interchangeable (which I actually prefer).Happy (3D) Viewing!!!

It's okay.

The nose piece is comfortable but makes the glasses go up way too high. You have to literally wear it almost at the tip of your nose so that the glasses can be centered correctly with the TV. If you wear them normally, you have to look up the whole time. I'm not sure if the size matters because I have a normal sized head and other reviewers have said that the sizes of the glasses are almost exactly the same anyways. Other than that problem, its an okay pair of 3D glasses. Still think they are way too expensive though. I'm Not sure if Panasonic will ever make a perfect pair of 3D glasses, but it is definitly an imporovement from the older model.

After purchasing Panasonic VIERA TC-P50GT25 50-inch for Christmas, I have slowly been adding to my glasses collection so my family could watch a 3d movie together. I could not find any reviews for the large size glasses Panasonic TY-EW3D2LU, but I finally bought a pair this week and used them last night. I bought these glasses for myself (the dad of the family). My head circumfrance is 23.5", which is borderline for medium and large size glasses. Head shape probably also figures into this. For anyone else who is trying to decide which size, here's my thoughts on fit after watching one movie.I did not notice a huge difference between the medium and large sizes. These glasses were slightly less tight on my head and face, but for me, but I could use medium or large size equally well. As with the medium size glasses, I typically placed the glasses further down the bridge of my nose so that I could lean my head back on the couch while I watched the movie. I am caucasian with a typical nose - rather narrow and pointy. The glasses, though larger, did not slide off my nose or create any problems with being too loose.For me, size medium or large would work equally well. I am glad I bought the large, however. When my parents come to watch our kids, the large 3d glasses will likely work better for my dad, who is larger than I am.
