5Took a chance....Glad I Did!!
By K. A. Jones
HelloAbout three weeks ago our 2009 52" Sony LCD got broken and we had to look for a new set. I had a intention of getting a Sony or Samsung LED. Plasmas were not even on the menu or a thought. After two hours in a local B.B talking to the Magnolis rep I came awy sold on plasma. A week later I put the order in Amazon for a new TV; a Panasonic 55" GT30. I also needed a new BR Player so I grabbed the Panasonic BDT210. This was going to be our first taste of 3D. Since doing the order at once I needed 3D glasses. The Panasonic models were a bit high for my taste and wllet so I looked for a 3rd party pair.I read as many reviews, pro and users I could find which is not really much. I first settled on the Xpand and then changed to the True_Depth the day before doing the order. Don't ask but when it came time I decided to check around one more time and saw the 3Active ones. Not many review and most were DLP owners with some Samsung in the mix. The ones for the Panasonic were not out yet(out in the next two days). Don't ask but a gut feeling said these were it.They came like they said they would and both in a nice little black w/orange trim zip case. Inside you have a 3ft USB charge cord, instructions and a nice cleaning cloth. Said it takes about 2hrs to charge which it did. My first test was with just 2D>3D conversion. Now these are our first pair, our first time with 3D of any kind. I was bit worried since the main complaints was some seem heavy or your eyes cannot handle it or the tint is too dark. I held the power button as directed, it flashed "blue" and the Pansonic "saw" the glasses. I tried a few different BR movies and it did pretty good. Not true 3D but depth never the less. I did have to use the "Game or Vivid" setting instead of custom so to bump up the brightness but still good.Today was a new challenge as I decided to try a 3D movie off Starz (AT&T) and the new Transformers: Dark of the Moon 3D. With Starz it was the animated flick, Tangled and I came away impressed being thru AT&T. I used "Game Mode" and the colors were good, not like normal viewing but say Cinema and just slightly toned down. The glasses never flinched and I never put them down once during the movie. My eyes didn't seem to strain or have problems. I by the way only use reading glasses here and there. Second was Transformers 3D disc and the TV, player and glasses worked hand-in-hand to deliver a surperb 3D movie. Again I watched this in it's entirety without taking the glasses off. For the weight, feel and look they remind me of the old style Raybans or Wayfarers. They don't pinch the side or hurt your ears. No extra nose pieces but for me I didn't need one. The extra width on the sides do block out light but you're not going to get 90-100% light blockage no-where. One big selling point to me was being rechargable which most don't do. The price is downright attactive and below most other models. The feel of them is light yet not cheap. And getting a nice case instead of some pouch is even better. I would therefore recommend these without hesitation.Kenny J...Nashville TN

5Active 3D glasses
By R. JANISH
The 3D active glasses that I recently purchased were a great value for the price. The instruction that came with the glasses were easy to follow. Once charged up they performed perfectly. I am very satisfied with the glasses. They give a more 3D effect if a program is produced in 3D. My Panasonic TV has 3D capability even if the program in not produced in 3D. The visual experience is not as good as when a program is produce specifically in 3D. I did find out that the 3D glasses will go out if they do not receive the signal from the TV. This is no big deal. One just has to make sure the glasses are on and the the viewer receives the signal from the TV. I am pleased with these 3D glasses. Richard J.

5Best active vision 3D glasses that i have tried
By Phil Smoot
Sept 24, 2012 2nd UPDATE to my original review:I can say good things about Dimensional Optics, as they responded immediately to my problem with their 3D glasses. Upon my reply to them they sent a replacement pair -- My other (that is, my first) pair of Dimensional Optics 3Active 3D glasses was still under the 30 day warranty from Amazon, and, not knowing how things would work out, I elected to return that pair for a refund from Amazon. So, how does the replacement pair work? Fine, but once you have watched a bit, you do realize that the Panasonic Brand is still the preferred for Panasonic 3D Active Vision Glasses (Note that I am not talking about Passive 3D Glasses). The Dimensional Optics 3Active 3D Glasses seem to not hold sync as well as the Panasonic brand (as there is slight flicker from time to time). In sum, I would only recommend the use of Panasonic Brand for the more stable synchronization of the 3D images. Now, having said that, let me add to my already negative comment (in the original review) of Panasonic's support for 3D glasses --If you own a 3D capable HDTV from 2011 or 2010, Panasonic's website is now worse than it was in my original review: Unless you are well informed on this subject, Panasonic's site will leave you in a state of total confusion -- A terrible source for legacy consumer's and legacy customers of the company! But, let me end here by saying that I do like the look and feel (and the customer support) from the Dimensional Optics people, and Panasonic could learn a lot from their clear and informative website.Sept 2, 2012 UPDATE to my original review below:I now have 2 pair of these glasses, and I have issues with both:One pair stopped syncing with my 3D television (It finally reversed sync'd, that is, it made the right eye image left and left eye image right). The other pair has a different visual issue -- If you turn/move your head even the slightest right or left, the contrast becomes somewhat bluish.I do not have any of these issues with my Panasonic Brand 3D Glasses (and I have at least one version of all 3 generations that work with my TV)I'm e mailing Dimensional Optics to see if they will replace the glasses. I will follow up when I know more. Here is my original review:My positive review is for the active vision (not passive) 3D glasses called 3active by Dimensional Optics, and I use them with a Panasonic 55VT30 3D capable HDTV. Their passive glasses may be good as well, but I have no experience with them, nor have I used their glasses with other 3D televisionsThe information on 3D glasses for 3D HDTV's is really poor (and that is an understatement as it is a ball of confusion out there) -- Bad information on the internet and bad information from Panasonic regarding the 3D glasses. Fortunately, Dimensional Optics website makes sense and is clearly laid out and informative. So, what is the problem with Panasonic? Their call service people do not have a clue when it comes to which glasses work and how to buy them (plus the Panasonic website seems to have abandoned the consumer who wishes to make a 3D glasses purchase), and an e mail reply from Panasonic gave me the wrong information on which glasses I could use for their set:I have a 2011 Panasonic 3D television, and Panasonic said that I could not use the 3d generation Panasonic glasses, which is wrong as you can use them -- I have 2 pairs of the 1st generation Panasonic 3D glasses, 1 pair of the 2nd generation, and 2 pairs of the 3rd generation of Panasonic glasses. The 1st generation glasses are too heavy, but the 2nd generation is pretty good with the 3rd generation being very lightweight. So, I tried a pair of the 3active glasses, and I like them best -- They have slightly bigger glass area and there is almost no undesirable ambient light reflections (a problem with the Panasonic glasses if you wear them over your regular glasses). They may even allow more light to your eye than the newer Panasonic glasses (which is good) and they fit comfortably over your regular glasses. If you do not wear glasses, the 3rd generation Panasonic 3D glasses are excellent and very lightweight (4th generation Panasonic 3D glasses will not work with 2011 or 2010 Panasonic 3D televisions, as the 2012 Panasonic glasses went to the use of Bluetooth signal rather than the earlier generations use of Infrared signal from the television to the glasses -- Maybe someone will make a reciever that allows all glasses to work with all televisions, but I do not know of such to date). As for me, I'm going to order another pair of the 3active glasses so that anyone visiting me who wears glasses can enjoy the same clear vision as I do with the product from Dimensional Optics.
